Research at Bangalore Gastro Centre

Research and its practical application to day-to-day clinical practice forms an integral part of care provided at Bangalore Gastro Centre.

Dr Yogananda Reddy, Director and Chief Gastroenterologist at BGC firmly believes in active research to benefit clinical outcomes for patients. He has been involved in multiple research projects as a Principal investigator for the East Lancashire NHS Trust (UK) for Multi-Centre Clinical studies including ELUCIDATE trial, HCV (UK) trial, HALT-IT trial, STOPAH trial (co-investigator).

As a part of its commitment to research, BGC Hospitals has signed an agreement with 3BIGS, a South Korean healthcare company and introduced a gut microbe testing tool which is supported by Artificial Intelligence and data mining. Gut microbe testing can provide insights into the gut health of an individual and has scope to predict an individual's future health conditions and therefore help prevention prior to onset of disease. Functional gut disorders are on a raise, chronic stress and lifestyle issues are regarded as major contributors for irritable bowel syndrome. BGC has collaborated with ICREST, Bangalore based STEM CELL RESEARCH company to understand how testing of certain cellular parameters can identify chronic stress and its implications in clinical practice.

In its upcoming new premises, there is a dedicated research wing to facilitate BGC's vision to provide best and up-to-date clinical care to all its patients.
