Paediatric Endoscopy

Hospital Building

Paediatric Endoscopy is a specialized form of endoscopy designed for examining the digestive tract of infants, children, and adolescents.

Purpose of the Procedure

This procedure is used to diagnose and treat various gastrointestinal conditions in children, such as inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, or unexplained abdominal pain.

Procedure

  1. The child is given age-appropriate sedation or anesthesia.
  2. A thin, flexible tube with a camera is inserted either through the mouth (for upper endoscopy) or anus (for colonoscopy).
  3. The doctor examines the digestive tract for any abnormalities.
  4. If necessary, biopsies can be taken or minor procedures performed.

Note: Special care is taken to ensure the comfort and safety of young patients.

Benefits
